Accomplishments

Since the pandemic started, we’ve distributed more than 4,000 masks and protective materials to neighbors in and around the area. We continue to distribute supplies to elderly residents and address concerns regarding the pandemic.

During the past several years, we have worked diligently to accomplish the following:

Organized special forums for issues pertaining to Highway 288 Toll Road expansion and sound barriers, area bar-related nuisances, area homelessness and more.

  • Successfully submitted petitions for speed humps on Live Oak, Wichita, Delano, Calumet and other streets.

  • Successfully petitioned for permitted parking for several blocks to address parking issues related to area bars.

  • Obtained minimum-lot size protection for nearly 10 blocks in our area including Oakdale, select blocks of Arbor and Wichita.

  • Spotlighted monthly area businesses including Kaffeine Koffee, Inner Me Studios, Dinky Drum School, Turkey Leg Hut, UnWine, Cupcake Kitchen and more.

  • Participated in area clean-up efforts in partnership with the City of Houston and hosted Get Fit in Riverside Park, a District D candidates forum and other events.

  • Continued to advocate for better sidewalks, cleaner neighborhoods, as well as rally against illegal dumping and crime.

  • Supported the formation of Friends of Riverside Park Houston, a 501c3 nonprofit organization designed to help make one of the city’s oldest parks a better greenspace for everyone.
